Prayer Shawl Ministry |
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a group that creates shawls and blankets for members of our community and congregation. Prayer shawls have come to symbolize peace, comfort, shelter, and spiritual sustenance. Our ministers donate their time, talent, and yarn to creating shawls and blankets for those who are suffering and in need. The shawls provide warmth and embrace the recipient through the prayers of our St. John’s congregation and the loving presence of God. The Prayer Shawl Ministers knit or crochet shawls at home and then gather monthly to work on their shawls, pray for the recipients, and enjoy each other’s company. The shawls are blessed before they are sent to those in need. You are welcome to be part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry! You can join our group to meet monthly, or you may also create a shawl on your own and donate it to the ministry. You can also donate yarn to help our members create shawls for others. If you are new to crochet, please come and learn the craft! Our hope is to widen our circle and continue to embrace those in need of prayer. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer and would like to pass on a prayer shawl, please reach out to our ministry leader, Lynn Hansen or our rector, Fr. Duncan.
